Together with 22 youth workers from seven different countries, she explored the highly relevant topic of mental well-being through a variety of non-formal educational activities, reflective discussions, and practical workshops. For Chiara, the project was defined by five key words: reflection, sharing, awareness, growth, and discovery.

Throughout the training course in Pernik, participants explored the challenges that affect the mental well-being of young people today and reflected on possible ways to address them. Activities such as the Socratic Walk, the World Café, and sessions dedicated to youth well-being challenges encouraged participants to openly discuss stress, emotional pressure, and the growing influence of social media and digital habits on young people’s lives. At the same time, the project introduced participants to practical tools for stress management and emotional resilience.

Reflecting on the impact of the project, Chiara shared that it significantly changed her perspective on mental well-being and personal responsibility. One of the strongest messages she took from the training was the importance of focusing energy on what can actually be controlled rather than becoming overwhelmed by external circumstances. She described the activity based on the “inside and outside circles” as particularly meaningful, as it helped her understand the importance of setting boundaries, managing stress consciously, and finding balance in everyday life.

The project also increased her awareness of the impact of social media and screen habits on emotional well-being. Chiara reflected on how important it is for young people to become more conscious of the time and energy consumed by digital platforms and to actively seek healthier habits and emotional balance through practices such as meditation, breathing techniques, outdoor walks, and reducing digital overstimulation.

For Chiara, some of the most valuable moments of the training were the group sharing activities and reflective exercises that created opportunities for genuine connection and mutual understanding. Through activities such as the Wheel of Emotions, group discussions on stress factors affecting young people, and card-based reflection exercises, she discovered that despite cultural and social differences, many young people share similar emotional struggles and experiences. She also found great value in creative and non-verbal methods such as neurographic art workshops and clay modelling, which allowed participants to explore mental well-being from a more artistic and emotional perspective.

Another important tool for her was the “Mental Health & Emotional Resilience Worksheet,” which she plans to continue using as part of her personal reflection and emotional self-care process. Chiara emphasized that she intends to apply the knowledge, methods, and practices gained during the project both in her personal life and in her future work with young people.

Chiara strongly believes that Erasmus+ projects are experiences every young person should have the opportunity to participate in. According to her, such projects contribute enormously to both personal and professional development by encouraging participants to step outside their comfort zones, meet people from different countries and cultures, and explore important social topics through non-formal education. She described the experience as “magical and unforgettable,” highlighting the unique combination of meaningful learning, intercultural friendship, emotional growth, and inspiring facilitation that leaves a lasting and positive impact on participants long after the project ends.

Funded by the European Union.
