Sharing Experiences, Challenging Stereotypes under project ‘Breaking Stereotypes, Building Friendships’

Between November 26 and 27, 2025, students from “Traian” Theoretical High School organized dissemination and follow-up activities to share what they had learned through the Erasmus+ project “Breaking Stereotypes, Building Friendships.” The mobility took place from November 10 to 17 in Bansko, Bulgaria, and addressed a highly relevant social issue: combating Islamophobia.

The main aim of these sessions was to pass on the knowledge and experiences gained during the project to their peers from the 9th and 10th grades. The activities focused on breaking down stereotypes related to Islamic culture while encouraging tolerance, empathy, and intercultural dialogue.

Inspired by the non-formal education methods used during the mobility in Bulgaria, the sessions were designed to be interactive and engaging. They began with energizing activities that helped create a relaxed atmosphere and encouraged open communication. The central part of the workshop invited participants to test their knowledge by reflecting on common statements about Islamic culture and deciding whether they were based on facts or shaped by media-driven stereotypes. This led to lively discussions and gave students the opportunity to explore different aspects of Islamic traditions, beliefs, and values in a more open and informed way.

At the end of the activities, the project team presented a video montage from their time in Bansko. Through photos, short clips, and personal stories, they shared memories from the workshops, cultural visits, and, most importantly, the friendships they built during the youth exchange.
