Pro Vision International is happy to share the outcomes and results of the youth exchange Speak+ that was held in Bulgaria from 21st until 30th of June 2021 in Bansko, Bulgaria.
The project included young people from Bulgaria, Italy, Finland, Spain, Romania and the UK.
Participants had the opportunity to explore the process of radicalization – different stages, deep roots, effects on society, the role of the media and fake news, the relationship with key factors such as intolerance, prejudice, stereotypes, hate speech and will discuss possible ways to engage young people in preventing radicalization through non-formal education.
The main goals of the project were:
-to understand the process of radicalization-its roots, the impact on society, ways to recruit new people, the role of the media and fake news
– to increase the media literacy of the participants
-to help young people understand how extremist movements work and thus reduce the risk of radicalization of young people
-learn about hate speech as a tool used to spread propaganda and recruitment.
As a results of the project young people increased their understanding of important social problems, discussed essential issues, related to European youth, were able to share their opinions with peers, boosted their skills, knowledge and competences. During and after the project the youngsters created some interesting outcomes to share their experience and knowledge with peers among Europe with the aim to raise awareness on the treat of youth radicalization, its causes and effects and to call out for the active role of youth in preventing youth radicalization.
