During this youth exchange we used various non-formal education tools and strategies to raise awareness on migration and propose solutions through workshops on enterpreneurship and active citizenship. The instruments we used to achieve this go as it follows;
Quiz on migration – an interactive game that helped participants to be acquainted with the basics of international law and migration in Europe.
Presentation of national context – a collaborative task for national teams that aimed to present a situation in their countries in a creative way.
Tree on roots and branches – an exercise that boosted barnstorming and critical thinking among youngsters from different countries to present the core of global problems and their effects on the society.
Role play former theathre – a non-formal education tool, based on theater play, where participants could put themselves in the shoes of other people, highlighting a socially important issue. The observers could change a plot.
Social enterpreneurship, definitions and national context – during this activity the participants got familiar with basic terms related to entrepreneurship. Although some of them have already heard about these terms, they still discovered something new.
Ideas into action – the most impactful activity was to transform our ideas into a practical, structured plan of a social enterprise.
The previous activities had a goal to encourage young people and give us food for thoughts how to empower migrants and refugees. Firstly, we clarified legal definitions regarding the main topic of the project. After that, every team presented national context of the problem, raising awareness among other participants. We tried to understand the essence of the migration crisis and the obstacles refugees face. What could be better than acting to understand the problems of migrants? Young people from Europe tried to present it through a role-play, engaging the audience to take action. And we succeeded!
