Wasting food is not only an ethical and economic issue but it also depletes the environment of limited natural resources. By raising awareness on those issues among young people we can contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals towards greener Europe and support the fight against climate change .We believe that everyone has a part to play in reducing food loss and waste however the concepts of circular economy, zero waste and personal responsibility towards fighting those two, are still quite blurry and non understandable for majority of youth. A short online survey has been created in order to assess the knowledge and awareness of youth on the topic Given the survey results, we have concluded that there I a big gap of knowledge, awareness and competences among youngsters from the participating organizations related to sustainability issues. Those topics seems to be put on the European union agenda and politics, but it is still hard to be transferred to the young people thus we decided to create this exchange as a learning platform for youth, using youth friendly approach, peer to peer education and experimental learning. Our aim is to raise awareness on sustainability issues and zero waste philosophy and stimulate sustainable behavior among participants.
The main objectives are:
-raise awareness on environmental issues, related to pollution, waste disposal, climate change and the relation to everyday choice of each individual;
-provide deeper understanding of the concept of zero waste philosophy and encourage personal responsibility towards environmental sustainability;
-understanding the role of youth in environmental sustainability and encourage social responsibility and activism way of thinking.
Moreover, we not only aim at raising awareness on essential social issues, give information, stimulate learning and acquiring of new skills, but we aim at changing attitudes and way of thinking. By actively engaging youth we aim encouraging behavior change and transformation-young people to realize the power of small actions, the importance of small daily steps towards bigger change, to realize individual`s responsibility towards achieving sustainability. We also want to ensure that participants will continue with small daily steps after the project and make effort to bigger changes. Furthermore, the project has the potential to trigger a discussion and to raise public awareness of the issues of environmental sustainability and will also highlight the importance of zero waste practice but most of all the power of youth to tackle those global social issues. We expect to attract and engage youth across Europe and involve in further activities tackling those social issues.
TARGET GROUP:
- -Young people between 18-30 years old with no age limit for the leader
- -Motivated to participate in the project
- -They are NOT on European Solidarity Corps service at the moment of the activity
PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES: Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Spain, Serbia and Greece

Accomodation:
Accomodation and food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for the duration of the activities will be covered by the receiving organzation PROVISION International. All participants will be accomodated in Royal Bansko aparthotel , located in Bansko Bulgaria at the follwoing address: ul. “Kosherinata” 2770, Bansko, Bulgaria
COVID-19 measures:
We strongly recommend bulgarian participants to be vaccinated.
